Stage 5 – Kaznok Challenge

Through the Aloudin lakes over the challenging Kaznok Pass and down into the Sarytag Valley

Stage 5 – 11 September 2024

Key Metrics: Distance 31.4km, Elevation Gain 1,414m

This is the ultimate stage of the TMT that will take the racers to new levels of altitude. Starting from Alouddin Lake runners will climb up past a few small lakes on the way up to Mutnyi Lake, the launching point for expeditions to Chimtarga and Energia Peaks and to Kaznok Pass.

Passing around Mutnyi lake, the climb to Kaznok Pass begins. The climb is steep and technical up the final 600m to the pass. At the pass we will reach the high point of the race at 4,091m a.s.l. On the other side the descent begins with a steep drop of 800m over a kilometer and a half. The descent then becomes increasingly more gradual over the next 16kms down to the Sarytag valley. Once reaching the valley we will head up the valley to our camp for the night to rest and recuperate from this challenging day.
