Chukurak Lake
View of Chukurak Lake

Stage 3 will take place on Tajik independence day (September 9th). We will travel through three villages today and can see their national pride on display.

We will begin with a gradual downhill run for the first 8 kms, as we continue down along the Archimaidan river. We will continue through the village of Gazza (don’t worry, everything is very peaceful there) down to the village of Zimtood. It is there that we will begin our climb. We will travel up through the villages of Zimtood and Guytan on our way up to the Guytan pass (2699m). Almost all of Stage 3’s elevation gain comes on this 1,166m climb to the pass. On the other side of the pass, it becomes more forested and we will descend through the trees down to beautiful little Chukurak Lake.

At Chukurak Lake, we will offer runners an opportunity to stop the clock, enjoy the scenery, have a break and a potential swim before heading down the final kilometer and a half to the Artuch Base Camp where our camp will be located for the night.
